    through day and night ith the great cl the land,

    ith the pop of the inloop'd flags ith the cities draped in black,

    ith the sho of the states theselves as of crapeveil'd oen standing,

    ith processions long and inding and the flabeaus of the night,

    ith the couorches lit,

    ith the silent sea of faces and the unbared heads,

    ith the tihe arriving coffin, and the sobre faces,

    ith dirges through the night, ith the thousand v strong

    and solen,

    ith all the ouful voices of the dirges pour'd around the coffin,

    & churches and the ddering ahese

    you jouey,

    ith the tolling tolling bells' perpetual clang,

    here, coffin that sloly passes,

    i give you y sprig of lilac.

    nor for you, for one alone,

    blossos and branches green to coffins all i bring,

    for fresh as the oing,
